HIGHLANDS COUNTY HORSESHOE CLUB SPRING MEETING 03-26-2025 MINUTES Meeting was called to order by President Keith Schafer. Members in attendance: Keith Schafer, Tina Schafer, Sheryll Card, Jack Morgan, Jean Normand, Kenny Wery, Mark Matzke, Terry Beagle, Bob Beagle, Jim Brandenburg, Loren Douglass. Minutes from 2024 Spring Meeting were read by Secretary Sheryll Card. No corrections or additions. Tina Schafer made the motion to accept the minutes as read. Seconded by Mark Matzke. Minutes accepted as read by unanimous approval. Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer Sheryll Card. Ending checking balance is $5,290.13. This luncheon is still to be paid. No questions. Tina Schafer made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report, seconded by Jean Normand. Unanimous approval. Officer Reports: 1st VP Jack Morgan: He didn’t do anything and did a good job at it. Facilities Manager Mark Matzke: Good year. Jean Normand big help to him. Helen Matzke repainted the Club Sign and it looks great. Next year may have to look at the roof over the pavilion as getting pretty rusty. May need painting. Food prep for tournaments: per Cheryl Barney-Linck and Phil Linck, lots of food being left over. It was suggested by membership that we scale back the offerings and prep. Maybe just do hot dogs and/or sloppy joes. Easy stuff. President: Thanks to all who stepped up over the season to assist with the league and tournaments. Hopefully, next season will have a few more members with the addition of some of the pitchers from Reflections. Old Business: none New Business: New shirts are needed. Decision to get new shirts and hats for paid members at $0 cost to member. Light blue and moisture wicking material like Jean’s shirt (which is the newest one) from Custom Prints in Sebring. Will be done in the Fall when we know how many we will need. 2025-2026 Schedule was handed out. No concerns or objections. Schedule allows for one cancellation. Any more missed due to weather or unforeseen circumstances may be made up. The first scheduled day of League is November 11th with a work day on November 4th to get courts ready. The last day of League pitching is March 10th with Count-All on March 17th and Banquet on March 24th. NHPA Tournaments are scheduled for December 10th, January 14th, February 11th, and March 11th. It was agreed that the December Charity Tournament will be for Toys for Tots. Unanimous. Keith Schafer is HCHC President for Season 2025-2026. First Vice President is Cheryl Barney-Linck as appointed by President Keith Schafer. 2nd Vice President is Jack Morgan as appointed by President Keith Schafer. Secretary-Treasurer: Sheryll Card is done. No nominations or volunteers. Tabled until Fall. Keith will perform the duties until someone steps up to do the job. Officers will be signees on the account as determined by Keith and those changes will be made as soon as feasibly possible. A new debit card will be gotten as the current one is in Sheryll’s name. Tournament Director: Tina Schafer is done. No nominations or volunteers. Tabled until Fall. Keith will be TD if necessary in the interim.
